About the Teacher

Eileen Church, PhD

Eileen’s daily meditation practice began in 2010 when a family member developed a serious illness which required her to stay in the hospital with him for days on end.  Since then, she has taken two 8-week MBSR classes, and a 5-day Mindfulness Tools program; attended a number of 7-day and 9-day silent meditation retreats; taken an 8-week course on Insight Dialogue through Metta Programs; and completed a 7-day professional MBSR training retreat on Mind-Body Medicine taught by Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli, a 9-day Practicum in MBSR and an 8-day Teacher Development Intensive through the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society.

In Fall 2014, she participated in the Center for Mindfulness’ Teaching MBSR: A Labor of Love Best Practices Intensive Conference.  Since then she has participated in several of the Center for Mindfulness’ on-line teacher development seminars.

Eileen has a master’s in Communication from Stanford and a doctorate in Philosophy (Medical Ethics) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
